Summary
The Operational Excellence Specialist will lead efforts to improve district and operating group performance by working directly with district management and team members. The Operational Excellence Specialist will drive perfect inventory event execution, along with continuous improvement, by partnering with district and/or operating group leadership to identify problems and root causes, analyze and improve processes, and drive more consistent application of standards. Frequent travel to District/Division/FSC offices including overnight stays within the operating group may be required.
Responsibilities
* Responsible to oversee perfect inventory event execution, which includes assessing and evaluating district-level event execution, identifying and prioritizing areas of improvement, improving processes and performing root cause problem solving, and devising and driving adoption of standards, processes and best practices * Serve as lead in conducting assessments of change management by working with district leadership to develop and implement action plans and track and trend maturity of standard usage * Lead process improvement and standardization efforts in the districts/operating groups * Train Supervisors, Area Managers and District Managers on the execution of standards and use of SOP and Standard Work Documents * Sustaining the consistent application of standards and best practices * Track and trend metrics, refine metrics/reporting, maintain and refine SOPs, and facilitate communication * Train new district leadership in Operational Excellence Principals * Strategize on larger division issues with the Operational Excellence team and field leadership * Actively participate in personal development and continuing education to learn (or improve) project management, change management, and lean principles and methodologies * Ability to adhere to a flexible schedule with varying hours to include working an unconventional schedule, resulting in long hours on occasion * Ability to work in various work environments, such as retail stores, warehouses, outdoor industries, etc., with potential exposure to cold and heat
Ideal Candidate
* Associates Degree, or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school (Bachelor’s Degree preferred) * Minimum of 1 years’ experience as an RGIS Area Manager and/or a minimum of 3 years of practical experience leading process improvement activities or equivalent experience * Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications * Proven success in developing people, delivering results, and identifying operational opportunities * Excellent interpersonal/communication and presentation skills * Strong consultative, analytical and problem solving skills * Project management and/or change management experience a plus
