About RFK Children's Action Corps
Robert F. Kennedy Children’s Action Corps is a leader in child welfare and juvenile justice, operating a number of programs and services for at-risk youth and families. Our work includes community based initiatives, residential treatment and juvenile justice programs, and we partner with national organizations and state agencies to use proven methods and develop new ways to advance practices in the care of those most vulnerable.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for two (2) programs or as deemed necessary depending on the total number of nurses employed at the time. - Management of day to day medical issues/needs and emergencies of all residents on campus. - Administration of prescription and non-prescription medications according to the protocol established by the consulting psychiatrist and/or pediatrician, and RFK policies and procedures. - Inventory control and record keeping according to state and federal guidelines for all medications. - Knowledge of current information in regards to side effects of all medications administered. - Complete all health aspects of each resident within their respective programs. i.e.: annual physical exams, eye exams, bi annual dental exam, and administering medications to residents according to guidelines set by Massachusetts Dept. of Public Health. - He/she will communicate effectively with the other program nurses in the clinic in regards to residents and office issues and will assume compliance with the office for Child Care Services. - Participate in continuing education programs and conferences to maintain state license and current knowledge in both medical and psychiatric nursing setting. - Oversee the ordering and storage of medical supplies and medication according to program, state and federal guidelines. - Solicit community resources to support the Lancaster Campus and other fundraising efforts for RFK - Expected to provide rotational cell phone medical on call coverage for Lancaster Campus. - Perform special assignments as designated by the Director of Healthcare Services. - Provide in service training for staff/residents in collaboration with the medical coordinator and training director. - Expected to cover medical aspects of other programs in addition to his/her own when necessary. - May be asked to obtain MAP Trainer Certification to assist with medication trainings. - Assist in training unlicensed personnel medication administration as well as the Blood Borne Pathogens Class, and assist with CPR/First aid training for staff. Teach CPR/first aid to students. - Responsible for all students on the Lancaster Campus.
Ideal Candidate
- RN required, BSN preferred. - BLS for Health Care Providers. - A current Massachusetts RN license. Preferred - A Psychiatric nursing background working with children is useful but not required.

$40,000 - $45,000 annual salary based on education and experience
