Summary
The Process Engineer role supports the manufacturing process using engineering skills to assess, manage, implement, improve or revise processes, with the goal of improving efficiency of operation, safety and the consistency of product quality. The individual will be responsible for developing procedures that facilitate the adoption of standardized processes that support future expansion. In addition, the individual will monitor the effectiveness of processes and quantifies results and presents findings to management.
Responsibilities
* Work safely, in a manner that protects and promotes the health and well-being of the individual, fellow employees, and the environment. * Identify, assist, and lead if appropriate the implementation of process improvements in the areas of Safety, Quality, Efficiency, and Service Rate in support of Plant Performance Goals. Lead or assist with manufacturing and R&D trials as required. * Plan, manage, and deliver Capital Projects on time and within budget. Coordinate internal and external resources to deliver services or equipment as required. * Drive continuous improvements using 5s or Lean Manufacturing principles where applicable. * Engage production employees in continuous improvement activities to ensure new equipment or processes meet the needs of the production team. * Develop solutions to process, equipment, or documentation issues in support of production team. * Work with Production and Technical Service and R&D teams to troubleshoot process or equipment issues to root cause. Provide technical knowledge in support of Plant Shift Maintenance group. * Train Production and Maintenance teams on new or improved processes within the plant. Develop standard work procedures or other documentation to ensure process is maintained. * Support R&D group in the development of new processes and products to ensure process meets objectives for safety, quality, and efficiency. * Assist Production Manager with the investigation and resolution of quality issues reported within the plant and externally in the field. * Assist in general maintenance of plant process equipment, applying working knowledge of facilities equipment. * Comply with the GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) programs to ensure we deliver products which meet the requirements for safe packaging of food products and report food safety concerns to those with authority to take action. * Limited travel may be required to visit equipment vendors, customers, or technical forums. * Maintain monthly records of project work for month end reporting on accomplishments.
Ideal Candidate
**Education:** B.S. in Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering **Experience:** 2-4 years practical work experience in extrusion, converting, or similar manufacturing field recommended but not required. **Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:** * Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, cost analysis, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods. * Ability to manage multiple projects in parallel, meeting project goals, timelines, and budgets. * Excellent analytical and problem solving skills (Root Cause analysis techniques required). * Strong verbal and written communication skills, with ability to work alone or in a group setting. * Working knowledge of MS Office Suite, MS Projects, CAD (Solidworks and Autocad). * Solid Modeling Skills using Solidworks is preferred. * 5S and Lean Manufacturing experience preferred. * Mechanical aptitude required.
