Summary
At Return Path, “Big Data” is a big deal! We’re swimming in data, terabytes of it, and we need a few smart, versatile software engineers to help us solve the most pressing challenges in the email industry. For example, we process data from 100+ million email messages every day, and build useful products powered by all that data. Responsibilities
As a Software Engineer here, you will be working alongside other dedicated and passionate engineers, product managers and data analysts, all focused on accomplishing big goals, like stopping spam and ending phishing. While you don’t need a fancy degree to work here, you do need to embrace learning and continuous improvement, have a strong technical skill set, and favor simple solutions over complex ones. The people we hire are pragmatic, versatile, data-driven and self-directed. We believe that different perspectives and approaches contribute to a stronger team, so even if you don’t match all of the below, if you’re curious and willing to learn, we’d still love to talk to you.
Ideal Candidate
* Practical and professional software development experience * Expert in at least one modern programming language (Java, Python, PHP or Go) * Strong front-end experience with JavaScript * Strong experience building and maintaining RESTful APIs * Experience or strong curiosity with Docker * Understanding of secure coding concepts, common vulnerabilities (OWASP Top 10, etc…), and how to properly mitigate them * Curiosity, a passion for learning and a can-do attitude! * You’re comfortable owning a project, working with colleagues, and drawing upon skills and teamwork to get the job done. * You're energized by solving real problems for real people * You excel working in an Agile environment **Nice to haves:** * Experience with AngularJS, ReactJS and ECMAScript 6 and 7 * Experience deploying to and working with Amazon Web Services (EC2, RDS, Redshift, EMR, etc) * Knowledge of email technology, e.g. ARF, DKIM, MIME
