Summary
As a Product Designer at Return Path, you will work at the intersection of user needs, technology innovation, beautiful design and business goals. You'll use lean practices working with our Product and Engineering teams to set clear goals based on the results of discovery and customer research. A wide range of your skills will come into play including the creation of user flows, sketches, wireframes,interactive prototypes and polished interfaces all the way to guiding the implementation with our development team and validation of your designs.
Responsibilities
**Strategic** * Research, interview and know our customers and communicate our learnings to the rest of the company. * Define what success looks like for our customers and the solutions we are building. * Take ownership of your projects and design problems. * Takes on leadership roles according to interests and professional development plan. **Focused on quality design** * See design at its heart as “problem solving” and be ready to jump on a white board and solve problems with people (sketching). * Embrace an experimental, learning methodology - create hypotheses, fast feedback loops, prototyping, and refinement (Invision). * Work collaboratively with the product development team (Product, UX, Engineering, Ops) to create wireframes, mockups and templates and turn them into working web applications. * Design highly usable, finished interfaces (Photoshop, Sketch). * Keep a consistent look and feel throughout our style guide and tools. * Establish best practices for web usability and shared global styles, and helps educate others in the product development and engineering team of those best practices. **Measure for success** * Plan and deliver user discovery and usability testing. * Set clear success metrics for your solutions and measure that with the Product Manager and the business. * Measure if we are actually solving the problem for the customer. * Track user metrics, analytics, and trends to establish areas for improvement. **Have a focus on people** * Desire to learn what customers really need. * Be driven by empathy, service, and asking “What if…” * Be energized by collaboration and group facilitation. * Encourage and teach others in product design methods — share what you love.
Ideal Candidate
A strong candidate will have a balance of customer empathy and advocacy with proportional, business outcomes - pushing towards clear results to help achieve Return Path's demanding business objectives. We look for people ready to learn, that want to work in an agile environment, that have a growing knowledge across the broad set of product design/UX skills but still have clear focused strengths, are confident communicators, can facilitate collaborative design with diverse groups, are dedicated to their work and are continually learning. * Sharp designer at the beginning to middle of their career. * Additional experience designing enterprise or SaaS application is helpful. * Any data visualization experience or history working with big data is a plus but definitely not required. * You've gone from business goal to validated product designs that a product and engineering teams can implement * Experience in designing enterprise, business to business web applications, data visualizations, and solving complex problems with big data. * Have working knowledge of CSS, HTML, and Javascript * Familiarity or willingness to learn prototyping tools such as FramerJS * You can go from whiteboarding to prototyping and can mock up application user interface applications for our product and engineering teams.
