Summary
Under the general supervision and direction of the Team Lead, perform data preparation and data analysis for the Data Science team. Uses existing processes to perform work assignments and solve routine or standard problems. Develop reporting that brings meaning to the data while being visually compelling. Requires conceptual fundamental knowledge of data analysis and database structures typically gained from a college or university education or equivalent work experience.
Responsibilities
* Creates queries to obtain data (from both SQL and Oracle databases) for data analysis * Prepare raw data into a data structure ideal for modeling * Identify relevant trends and perform follow-up data analysis after data preparation * Work with actuaries to understand the data and data format * Communicate with data scientists and other actuaries on the data findings and recommendations * Analyzes data to answer questions or provide information to requestor * Prepare visualizations/reports as needed for clients. * Creates reports using queries and data with Excel, Access, or other reporting tools * Maintain regular and predictable attendance. * Perform other duties as assigned.
Ideal Candidate
**Education** * Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics or equivalent work experience * 1-3 year experience in a business environment analyzing data and providing actionable insights **Experience and Skills** * Ability to be flexible when needed, take initiative, and demonstrate accountability. * Intermediate oral and written communication skills demonstrating ability to share and impart knowledge. * Ability to quickly adapt to new methods, work under tight deadlines and stressful conditions * Ability to set goals, multitask and prioritize workload * Ability to work well within a team environment and participate in department projects * Ability to balance detail with departmental goals/objectives * General business knowledge * Intermediate SQL Skills * Intermediate Excel Skills * Intermediate investigative , analytical, and problem-solving skills * Familiarity with statistical analysis tools (R, SAS) **Preferred:** * Professional designation : FLMI, ACS, ARA, or CLU * Life insurance business knowledge * 2+ years life insurance data analysis experience
