Senior Data Scientist

RedOwl’s Senior Data Scientists work on a diverse array of statistical challenges, supported by a top-notch engineering team, at a company that places an incredibly high value on analytics. Our current Senior Data Scientists are experts in a wide range of complementary statistical disciplines, including computational biology, natural language processing, machine learning, computational neuroscience, and economics. RedOwl Senior Data Scientists play a variety of roles within the company. You will develop and implement new analytics within Reveal, assist in shaping the product roadmap, supervise teams of software engineers, and help clients use Reveal to mitigate their most pressing security threats. Senior Data Scientists are given a wide range of autonomy to passionately pursue their approach to problem solving through improving the software product. Senior Data Scientists are expected to design and implement cutting-edge statistical methods for solving client problems. You will work with clients in order to understand their needs, workflows, and data sources. With this knowledge, Senior Data Scientists are involved in product and team leadership, helping oversee the development of Reveal to better meet both current and anticipated client needs.

- Design and implement new statistical methods–ranging from simple to complex–to drive forward the analytic power of Reveal - Optionally: design and implement front-end visualizations to improve the interpretability of statistical results and data aggregations, and design and implement user interfaces that ease users’ interactions with Reveal - Deeply understand client needs to both (1) help clients use Reveal to answer their questions, and (2) recognize opportunities to add new capabilities to Reveal that will effectively and efficiently address client use cases - Explain the platform and analytic process to clients in an easy to understand fashion - Work with integration engineers to load data into the system (using our ETL framework) and to run the product at scale - Be a leader both within the product development team and in crossing the bridge between the development and business sides of RedOwl.

- You have a Ph.D. (preferred) or Master’s in statistical discipline, such as computer science, statistics, economics, etc. - You can design, implement, test, and explain statistical algorithms and core machine learning concepts - You like to write code Preferred: - You’re conversant in a scripting language like Python, R or Ruby - You’ve done some web application development, and maybe used D3.js to make some cool visualizations - You’ve got experience interacting with customers or users to translate their needs into specific, solvable analytical questions - Experience with team leadership and product
