This position will be one of a team of writers developing online documentation and related collateral for web-based applications, as well as publishing and maintaining documentation resources for RealPage products. This position will work with business analysts and development teams as well as other writers and editorial staff. This individual must be technically-oriented and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines. The Technical Writer will also assume some responsibilities for developing documentation for new applications.
- Document end-user online help system based on written specifications, interviews with other team members, and hands-on testing of applications
- Create and maintain hard copy user guides, quick reference guides, and other technical collateral material as assigned
- Assume responsibility for managing and coordinating collaborative portions of the online help system as needed
- Maintain consistency through adherence to published styles and standards
- Perform internal content review of other writers’ documentation
- Develop documentation and for new applications
- Communicate regularly with Business Analysts, Developers, and other internal staff as well as other writers to ensure documentation is accurate and effective
- Participate in all phases of creating documentation for new applications
- BA in English, Communications, or Technical Writing; equivalent experience may be acceptable
- Minimum five years technical writing experience
- Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality work as part of a fast-paced, dynamic team
- Familiarity with HTML or Windows-based single-source documentation tools (Author-it, RoboHelp, Flare)
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, including styles and templates
- Strong knowledge of Adobe Acrobat
- Online Help development experience a strong plus
- Familiarity with XML, HTML, or other web-based help systems
- Familiarity with software as a service
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to effectively communicate with others to achieve desired results; must be approachable
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and with little supervision
- Ability to adhere to corporate standards and styles, experience with Microsoft Manual of Style a plus
- Ability to manage multiple projects within strict deadlines
- Rental market real estate experience a strong plus
