Summary
Lead a highly motivated team of Manufacturing Engineers within the Hardware Engineering Center (HWEC), Multi Product Design and Manufacturing (MPDM) Department supporting the production of Space and Airborne Systems (SAS) products at the Forest, MS CMC.Perform and oversee mechanical/manufacturing engineering functions supporting a variety of programs, projects and products within the facility.Key interfaces will be with other functional leaders across the site, other engineering disciplines, and internal/external customers critical to the success of the manufacturing site.
Responsibilities
The Section Manager (SM) is a key technical contributor to the programs and products supported by the section and in addition, performs direct line management activities for approximately 16 engineers. These SM activities include career and performance development, training, tool and process development, resource allocation, championing the use of established procedures, processes and instructions while actively engaging with programs to facilitate execution and quick and robust resolution of issues. The SM ensures two-way communications for section members; serves as a liaison to the programs/Ops ensuring program success along technical, cost and schedule parameters, as well as overseeing section member job assignments, performance, and recognition. Responsibilities include coordinating program staffing needs and optimizing staffing across skills and experience to meet demand for multiple programs. Section Managers will also be responsible for developing and maintaining the technical roadmaps for their capabilities and for technical leadership of the section. The candidate must have an outstanding ability to provide technical guidance and act as a mentor to his/her staff.The candidate must be adept at making technical presentations and at establishing customer relationships.
Ideal Candidate
**Required Skills:** * Experience executing root cause analysis and developing effective corrective actions, by leading multiple engineering disciplines in an integrated team environment and communicating interim status and final results to high level leaders and customers. * Experience interfacing with customers and program managers, regarding assessments of program performance (technical, cost and schedule) * Experience providing technical leadership throughout the entire product life cycle; including prior experience ensuring product integrity and mission assurance in a manufacturing environment * Experience supporting supply chain organizations with significant experience working with suppliers(external and internal) in a technical and/or programmatic oversight role * Previous experience as technical manager or leader of a technical team * Minimum 10 years of experience participating in mechanical design, development and manufacturing activities. * Ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance * US Citizen **Desired Skills:** * Proficiency in Pro-Engineer or similar modeling tools * EVMS Certification and strong knowledge of SAS Management System * Strong judgment and decision-making skills * Experience reviewing and tailoring Engineering processes * Experience with program area Engineering Review/Change Control Boards * Experience leading and engaging with geographically dispersed teams * Excellent mentoring and employee development skills * Technical and proposal writing skills **Required Education:** Bachelor's degree (BS/BA) or equivalent in Physics, Materials, Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering or related field **Desired Education:** Master's degree (MS/MBA) or equivalent in Physics, Materials, Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering, Business Administration or related field
