Data Systems Engineer

• Maintain, enhance, and optimize the data pipeline in a highly available, scalable, and robust manner
• Provision, configure and deploy new infrastructure and services
• Design, manage, and maintain tools to automate operational processes
• Contribute to making our infrastructure simple, reliable, and easy to operate
• Maintain and enhance monitoring and alerting

• Experience in operations and Linux systems engineering in a cloud environment
• Mastery of a configuration management tool, such as Chef, Puppet, Ansible, Salt
• Programming experience in Python or a similar language
• Experience with CI, Jenkins and Continuous Deployment
• Experience with WebApps and Nginx
• Experience with monitoring (Sensu, Nagios) and metrics (Graphite, Librato, statsd)
• Knowledge of security best practices
• Ability to track down root causes and fix them in systematic ways
• Strong problem solving skills and attention to detail
• Self-starter and results-oriented

And for bonus points:

• Experience setting up and maintaining a Hadoop cluster
• Experience with data pipeline technologies, especially Kafka
• Experience with containers (Docker, LXC)
