Senior Embedded Firmware Engineer

Rain Bird Corporation, based in Azusa, California is the world's leading manufacturer and provider of irrigation products and services. The position is responsible for verifying and validating the proper implementation of product specifications for various software and electronic products. In addition, this individual will play an important role in the decision-making team for the Controls Manufacturing Division of Rain Bird, working with key individuals across the company to establish and maintain the quality standards for the division. He or she will also be required to personally lead the test effort of one or more significant projects. Frequent coordination with and travel to the manufacturing plant in Tijuana is required

• Participation in all phases of development, implementation, and support: requirements analysis, documentation, design, implementation, product builds, testing, beta administration, and field support
• Participation in the definition of test cases, development of test procedures, test execution, and test reporting, per plan and schedule
• Ensure that good QA practices are followed throughout the product development lifecycle
• Coordinate with engineering and marketing departments to develop product performance and quality specifications
• Design and implementation of automated test scripts
• Participation in cross-functional design review and code review teams
• Supervise and lead teams of 1-5 people for testing projects

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering
• 10+ years experience of increasing responsibility in a variety of leadership, product development, and project management functions
• 3+ years of specific testing experience on Microsoft Windows platform applications
• 5+ years of general software, embedded firmware or hardware testing experience
• 3+ years of development experience with C, C# or similar languages
• Proven ability to lead, influence, and manage multiple projects
• Experience in the development of functional test plans and procedures
• Previous experience using test automation platforms and writing test scripts
• Proven track record of optimizing and reducing operational costs
• High energy and an enthusiastic attitude, desire for continued learning, and a willingness to take on difficult challenges
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong analytical and organizational skills

Desired Qualifications:

• Master's degree in Engineering or Business Administration
• Thorough understanding of Microsoft operating systems (Windows XP/Vista)
• Experience with HP's Quality Center test management software
• Ability to speak Spanish
