Summary
Quidel is searching for a Facilities Technician III for our Manufacturing and R&D Facility in the Sorrento Valley area of San Diego.
Responsibilities
This is a critical role which will work with complex manufacturing equipment such as lyophilizers, dry rooms, condensers, de-humidifiers, and ultra-low (-80 °C) freezers, some of which require cascade refrigeration systems. This role will schedule, perform, and oversee the maintenance, operation, and repair of facilities equipment. The position also manages contractors and services associated with scheduled maintenance well as conducting emergency repairs and replacement of equipment and components. The Facilities Technician III will ensure accurate and up to date documentation for validations, preventative maintenance, calibration, or other processes for facility equipment and systems. This role may require lead responsibilities that include mentoring less experienced personnel, coordinating shift assignments, generating work schedules, and supporting administrative activities.
Ideal Candidate
* Must be available to work any shift and be “on call” via pager and/or cell phone. * Must have valid driver’s license, with desirable rating. * High school diploma or equivalent. * Minimum 3-5 years’ experience working with general facilities equipment, production equipment and systems. * Experience with hand and power tools and their associated safety procedures. * Experience conducting or supervising routine building/grounds maintenance. * Strong written and verbal communication. * Experience with general software and computer systems (MS Office, email, file management, etc.). * Technical Degree or equivalent experience in related field. * Minimum 5 years' experience with all electrical applications up to 480 volts. * HVAC/Refrigeration trade schools or course certifications. * Experience with complex cascade refrigeration systems or ultra low freezers.
