Summary
QSC is seeking an experienced and self-motivated Sr Mechanical Engineer to be responsible for Developing mechanical, electro-mechanical parts and assemblies. Responsibilities include hands-on design work as well as guiding the work of others. A broad technical background that includes 3D CAD modeling, simulation, prototyping, test, and analysis is required. Tasks include but are not limited to: structural and thermal analysis, producing engineering documentation, and working with interdepartmental teams and vendors to develop new products.
Responsibilities
* Coordinate with Project Manager, Technical Director and other team members to develop new products. * Detail design parts including sheet metal, injection-molded, extruded aluminum, and wood parts. * Work within Windchill throughout the product lifecycle. * Work closely with Acoustic Engineers in the development of enclosures, baffles, ports, horns, and high-frequency waveguides. * Coordinate and lead mechanical efforts on multiple projects to ensure the on-time delivery of high quality designs. * Coach, mentor and collaborate with design staff at all levels to drive continuous improvement in technology development, product development, and engineering processes and capabilities. * Manage relationships with outside design services, contract manufacturers, and suppliers. * Develop and implement standards and best practices for mechanical design.
Ideal Candidate
* B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Master’s degree preferred. * Minimum of 10 years work experience as a Mechanical Engineer in product development. * High skill level with PTC Creo Parametric software including Surface Design and Top-Down Modeling or a wiliness to learn. * Experience creating high quality 3D CAD models in Creo 3.0 that meet requirements for fit, function, manufacturability, quality, and cost. * Design experience: * Thermal systems including design of heatsinks and fan selection * Electronic assemblies, integration of PCBs and wire routing * Extrusions * Sheet metal enclosures * Plastics and injection molded parts * Wood panels and joinery * Analysis experience: * Air flow and heat transfer preferably with CFDesign/Autodesk Simulation * Structural, preferably with Mechanica/Creo Simulate * Moldflow, preferably with Moldex3D * Test experience: * Extensive experience with component, sub-system and product level mechanical validation testing * Test methodology development * Thermal and airflow testing and optimization * Test plan creation * Test results interpretation and issue resolution * Strong time management skills. * Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work well in both small and larger cross-functional teams. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English language. * Self-motivated; Ability to complete project goals with minimal supervision. * Excellent problem solving skills. * Design for fabrication, assembly, and installation processes. * Ability to work in fast paced environment. * Willingness and ability to adapt to change. * High attention to detail and quality of work. * Thorough understanding of manufacturing principles and processes. * Working knowledge of SolidWorks desirable. * Audio product knowledge and experience desirable.
