Summary
The Robotic Systems Technical Program Manager will develop ground robotics solutions to address challenging, real-world problem. The Technical Project Manager will take hardware and software programs through design, development, test and fielding for commercial and Department of Defense projects. Individual will be responsible for driving technical innovation, identifying customer needs, and initiating projects by directly working with customers/sponsors to define top level scope and overall objectives. This individual will plan projects by defining WBS, estimating durations/costs, developing schedules, and conducting critical path analysis. During the execution of the project, the Technical Program Manager shall take hands on approach to lead the integrated team to execute hardware and software scope, guide the team through design and development issues, and deliver on time and on budget. The Technical Program Manager is responsible for monitoring the performance of the project by holding status meetings and using tools such as earned value management to evaluate the performance of the project. The Technical Program Manager will be the primary customer interface with responsibilities for setting project goals and milestones, and communicating cost, schedule and scope performance.
Responsibilities
* Effectively lead a team of highly skilled individuals through R&D programs. * Work with a cross-functional team to manage multiple projects with often conflicting needs and priorities. * Scope and requirements analysis. * Interface with customers and stakeholders to define scope and report performance. * Manage projects using schedules and budgets, critical path and estimating techniques. * Monitoring and controlling a project’s performance . * Develop processes and procedures to execute a project. * Interface and work with manufacturing groups to transition prototypes to production * Develop product roadmaps, identifying technology gaps and developing plans to address them. * Write white papers and proposals to a range of DoD, international, and commercial customers.
Ideal Candidate
* Minimum 8 years experience in a technical discipline, with minimum 5 years experience in managing electromechanical development/production projects * BS or MS (preferred) in Engineering **Required Skills** * Electromechanical Systems & Products – Must have strong technical background in electromechanical and/or software systems in the robotics and unmanned systems field. Strong background in robotic mobility, command and control, perception, and/or autonomy is highly desirable. * Proven Technical Leadership – Must have 5-10 years’ experience in leading technical projects to successful delivery. * Team Leadership – Must have a demonstrated ability to lead inter-disciplinary teams of engineers and experience in mentoring junior staff. * Excellent People Skills – Must be capable of leading a team of technical personnel and capable of conflict resolution. Must be capable of managing a customer to assure the customer’s needs are met without incurring scope growth. * Scope/Requirements Analysis – Must be capable of working with a customer to translate the customer’s wants and needs to top level scope and requirements. * Project Management Experience – Must be capable of applying engineering experience to develop estimates for project duration and cost. Must be capable of managing to schedule and cost. * Risk Management – Must have experience using risk analysis as management tool
