The purpose of the Accountant position is to contribute to effective and efficient accounting and reporting procedures by preparing accounting entries, analyzing financial results, preparation of Blackline account reconciliations and collaborating with key stakeholders and providing support to process improvement initiatives.

* Complete and deliver designated financial reporting tasks in a timely and accurate fashion to meet monthly/quarterly/yearly financial close and corporate reporting requirements. * Claims and banking system interface reconciliations. Investigate issues and discrepancies, and timely follow up and resolution of reconciling items as well as compile spreadsheet analytics to support findings. * Engage in continuous improvement by assisting with process improvement projects, data integration and automation projects. * Support internal and external audit requests and inquiries by coordinating the completion and review of assigned audit files. * Facilitate efficient team operations by helping with accounting research, responding to inquiries, assisting with ad hoc requests, sharing knowledge and resources and recommending process improvements * Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders by providing support and guidance for accounting inquiries, ensuring accurate and timely completion of accounting functions. * Work closely with the offshore GSSC team to enhance policy accounting and administration, facilitate suspense clearing and perform aging analytics. Assist manager to coach/train GSSC staff as necessary. * Contribute to a positive work environment by demonstrating team spirit and influencing others to take ownership and accountability, appreciate diversity, and demonstrate flexibility and creativity. * Adopt QBE values in personal work behaviors, decision-making, contributions and interpersonal interactions; manage own career development by soliciting feedback and valuing other perspectives.

**Requirements & Qualifications** * Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience **Experience** * 2- 4 years of relevant experience **Preferred Qualifications** * Extensive accounting experience; preferably insurance industry background **Licenses/Certifications** * Certified Public Accountant (CPA) **Knowledge** * Knowledge with accounting principles and practice.
