Java Messaging Engineer

Putnam Investments is a global money management firm with 75 years of investment experience. Our broad range of investment products includes advisor-sold mutual funds; 401(k)s, IRAs, and other retirement plans; variable annuities; and institutional portfolios.

Putnam’s Middleware team is seeking an experienced, motivated individual to manage messaging technologies.

Primary responsibilities include systems integration and server administration for JMS servers involving installations, support, troubleshooting, patching, upgrades, and migrations. Similar support is needed for other technologies such as web services, Tibco BusinessWorks, and RedHat Fuse. Java development experience is required to support and troubleshoot integration with client applications and to maintain or redesign a handful of messaging tools. Other responsibilities include disaster recovery planning, vendor case management, and documentation of related processes or FAQs.

• Bachelor's degree (Computer Science or Information Technology desired)
• Strong written and oral communication skills and proven problem-solving skills
• Project management skills, a positive attitude, and technical aptitude
• Experience working in an enterprise environment with a variety of technologies
• 5 to 10 years of experience with Java application development
• Development experience with technologies such as JMS, SOAP, or Rest
• Adept at working with Unix at the command-line and with scripts
• 3+ years server administration experience involving Java and / or JMS
• Server administration experience with Tibco BusinessWorks or RedHat Fuse
• Experience working with J2EE servers, especially JBoss or RedHat EAP
• Development experience with relational databases, particularly Oracle
• Experience working for an organization in the financial services industry
• Familiarity with LDAP, Apache Camel, Docker, and cloud technologies
• Java certifications
