Summary
PSA Healthcare is in need of an Occupational Therapist for in-home care. PSA Healthcare is a leading provider of in-home care services to pediatric and adult patients. We are currently seeking an Occupational Therapist to be responsible and accountable for the evaluation, coordination and administration of occupational therapy services in a home based setting for medically fragile children and adults.
Responsibilities
* Evaluating the patient to include: neuromuscular status, developmental level, perceptual motor functioning, oral-motor functioning, need for adaptive equipment/appliances, fine motor skills and self care * Initiating treatment in accordance with physician’s order * Maintaining thorough and accurate records, documenting therapy program and progress of the patient, reporting to the physician the patient's reaction to treatment * Designing and implementing a therapeutic program to meet individual needs of the patient * Documenting patient charges for billing purposes * Monitoring adaptive equipment needs and making recommendation as needed * Providing training to program staff, parents and/or guardians to maximize child's therapy * Consulting with the staff and parents to integrate each child's occupational therapy goals into daily activities * Reflecting current knowledge of trends, research and recent advances in the occupational therapy care of the medically complex child * Participating in patient care conferences * Maintaining patient confidentiality * Maintaining effective communication between staff, health care team members, and family
Ideal Candidate
**Position Requirements:** * Bachelor's degree from an approved Occupational Therapy program * Licensure as a registered Occupational Therapist in the state of practice * Registration with the American Occupational Therapists in the state of practice if required by state * Current Basic Life Support Certification **Physical Requirements:** * Frequent lifting and repositioning of patients * Repeated or prolonged standing, bending, kneeling, twisting and occasional climbing of stairs * Acute sense of sight and hearing (corrected or uncorrected) and strong sense of touch, smell and taste * Agility and strength sufficient to handle patients and equipment without assistance * Must be able to appropriately respond physically and psychologically to emergency situations in the home or during transport * Must be able to function in a wide variety of environments which may involve exposure to allergens and other health conditions
