Our Commercial Lines Research & Development group is seeking a R&D Analyst to dig into data to help answer business questions. Responsibilities
* Researching enhancements and new rating variables for our commercial insurance offerings * Conducting formal statistical analyses, for example, multidimensional weighted regression, using R or SAS as needed, including interpreting diagnostic information * Developing and supporting existing insurance rating models * Conducting ad hoc analysis using data analysis tools such as R or SAS This position requires strong skills in problem solving, communication and statistical analysis. Also a good sense of business judgment will be important in times when data may be fairly thin.
Ideal Candidate
* Master's degree with an emphasis in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Engineering or Operations Research * In lieu of Master's degree, Bachelor's degree with 2 years of analysis experience * Ability to analyze data using statistical, mathematical or data mining methods * Basic to intermediate programming skills, including the ability to create basic programs using software such as SAS or R * Intermediate skills in Excel including the ability to create, manipulate and formulate spreadsheets. Knowledge of spreadsheet functionality including V-look-up, pivot tables, charts and graphing * Good communication skills, both verbal and written * Strong critical thinking and problem resolution skills * Strong project management skills * Ability to prioritize and multi-task effectively This position requires strong skills in problem solving, communication and statistical analysis. Also a good sense of business judgment will be important in times when data may be fairly thin.
