Summary
Princeton Information is seeking an Oracle DBA for a permanent opportunity in Tampa, Florida. The Oracle DBA is responsible for supporting very large and complex databases including the organization, installation and assessment of enterprise database management system software across multiple database environments.
Responsibilities
Systems are based on Oracle RDBMS, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server and Vertica hosted on Unix/Linux platforms. * Activities require compliance with DBA Group best practices, standards, policies and procedures. The Oracle Database Administrator manages various aspects of developmental, system test and production cycles across multiple database technologies. * Duties include database design, creation, maintenance, backup/recovery, performance tuning and installing new software releases. Additionally, the DBA leads/oversees and assists to less experienced DBAs, architecture planners and development engineers. * Organize, install, and assess enterprise relational database management system (RDBMS) software across multiple database environments. * Troubleshoot database software running on Unix and Windows platforms while complying with specific DBA group best practices. * Provide 24x7 support. Create, track and report metrics for capacity planning. Analyze current capacity and provide recommendations. * Participate with database capacity planning, benchmarks. * Routine tasks include database design, creation, maintenance, backup/recovery, and performance tuning. * Ensure databases meet disaster recovery requirements. * Provide hands-on training to less experienced DBAs. * Ensure all aspects of database security control measures are correctly implemented with proper ongoing maintenance. * Conduct periodic review and confirm of database accounts to meet audit requirements. * Manage the distribution and retention of data on various storage devices. * Participate in the design of logical and physical databases. * Review description of changes to database design to understand how changes to be made affect physical databases. * Provide day-to-day advice to users on data structures and terminology. * Keep abreast of the latest developments in database technology.
Ideal Candidate
* 10+ years Software Engineering experience, including 5+ years as a Database Administrator. * 5+ years experience with Oracle RDBMS. * 2+ with 11g. Hands on experience with Oracle RAC with ASM on Unix/Linux platform. * Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL and Vertica a plus * Proficient with using Oracle Enterprise Manager. * Advanced knowledge and use of latest Oracle technologies and features. * Expert engagement skills with Oracle Support Services and SR escalations. * Familiar with navigating through online Oracle documentation. * Proficient with latest versions of SQL. * Strong understanding of database management tools. * Advanced/Expert knowledge of working in Unix/Linux environment. * Strong problem solving ability. * Proven ability to work to exacting deadlines. * Understanding of business requirements of a large organization and reflect those needs in proposed IT solutions. * Experience in producing operational and procedural documentation to a high standard. * Experience in the analysis, design, development and implementing of major Database structures.
