Technical Specialist

PQ Corporation is a leading global producer of silicate, zeolite, and other performance materials serving the detergent, pulp and paper, chemical, petroleum, catalyst, water treatment, construction, and beverage markets. Our chemical products are complemented by those of our former subsidiary Potters Industries, a leading producer of engineered glass materials serving the highway safety, polymer additive, metal finishing, and conductive particle markets.

This position will support PQ's global Oil Processing and Biofuels and Edible Oil Refining business and promote industry technical expertise towards the business growth in PQ's SORBSIL, silica gel products.

• Act as a primary technical resource for PQ's Oil Processing and Biofuels and Edible Oil Refining businesses.
• Will meet with current and prospective global customers.
• Assist PQ's sales force in Specialty Absorbent business by providing industry and application expertise in the technical benefits and operational fit for PQ's SORBSIL product line.
• Possess full understanding of Oil Refining production processes to be able to dialogue with customers on process improvement and promotion of PQ SORBSIL silica to improve oil quality and production efficiencies.
• Design trial protocols and oversee customer trials, including follow-up laboratory analysis.
• Will require as much as 50% international travel.

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering/Chemistry or other relevant scientific disciplines required.
• Minimum of (8) years of technical experience in Oil Processing/Edible Oil refining and Biofuels/Biodiesel industries.
• In-depth understanding of oil quality and analysis, testing, processing and performance in market applications.
• Experience working in oil processing plants.
• Effective communication skills needed for interactions with customers and within PQ (commercial departments, technical, plant operations, corporate, engineering, etc.).
• Strong interpersonal skills.
