Summary
Pocket Gems, a mobile entertainment company based in San Francisco, is continuously breaking new ground on smartphones and tablets by building graphically rich games, developing fun new genres of entertainment and creating innovative technologies. Launched in 2009, the company has grown to over 200 employees and their games have been downloaded over 200 million times globally. The Finance team is a critical leader and thought partner to all business units throughout Pocket Gems. We perform analyses to support strategic direction, drive operational improvements by guiding investment decisions, and lead financial forecasting and long term planning. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering insight into our financial performance, making recommendations on and assisting with strategic and operational initiatives, continuously evolving our financial decision-making framework, and building scalable tools and systems. To succeed in this role, you must be a well-rounded top performer with superb data analysis and communication skills, the ability to work independently, and the drive to complete projects in a high-intensity growth environment.
Responsibilities
* Evaluate and guide strategic and tactical decision-making on new revenue initiatives, new game titles, and user acquisition by assessing financial return and ROI * Refine the company’s investment frameworks to provide clear and objective milestones for game development and management * Become the trusted leader for complex and in-depth financial analyses. Anticipate the questions that drive business growth and profitability, and answer them with data driven models * Partner with internal functional teams to understand KPI trends and forecast the impact of new product initiatives, new user intake, and market trends * Support the continuous development of the long term strategic plan, including translation of high-level strategic goals into financial projections supported by market data * Partner with the R&D functional teams to understand their financial information needs and develop tools that help them manage revenues and costs * Assist with and manage ad hoc and cross-functional strategic and operational projects
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor’s degree and over 5 years of experience in financial and data analysis, preferably through a top-tier consulting firm, PE/VC/hedge fund, or corporate/operational finance group * Strong SQL skills and expert financial modeling (Excel) and scenario analysis skills. Engineering and science backgrounds are welcome * Exceptional quantitative analytical and problem solving skills and ability to consider the impact of strategic business decisions * Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work cross-functionally, with a commitment to challenging the status-quo to make things better * Excellent communication skills, with the ability to distill complex issues into structured frameworks and concrete action plans * Positive attitude to “do what it takes” to get the job done in a dynamic, startup environment * Detail-oriented, organized, and able to multi-task and shift priorities quickly, while delivering under limited supervision
