Summary
Pixar's Systems Infrastructure team builds, manages, and secures the systems the studio depends on to twiddle bits and make movies. We work to ensure there is sufficient server, network, and data center capacity to react to changes in schedule, workflow, or resource demand. We help to keep the good things secure and the bad folks at bay. Services we manage directly include access control, authentication, communications, data transfer, name service, intrusion detection, remote access, and virtualization. We are looking for someone with a drive to learn and innovate. The ideal candidate will help us find ways to build and manage services in a repeatable, collaborative DevOps style, solving problems before anyone notices them and leaving systems more reliable and secure than they found them. This position is perfect for an experienced sys admin who has worn many hats and enjoys swapping them several times a day.
Responsibilities
* Ensure availability, capacity, and security of systems * Create and document tools to automate system provisioning and management * Respond to trouble tickets with considered solutions in a timely manner * Work in a highly collaborative ways * Participate in after-hours on-call duties
Ideal Candidate
**QUALIFICATIONS:** * 2+ years as a professional Linux / UNIX geek * Fluent in two (or more) languages: Python, Bash, Ruby, Perl, PHP, Go, or C/C++ * Experience with Git and open source software development practices * Regular involvement with config management / provisioning automation: Ansible, Chef, Puppet, and Salt * Deep familiarity of provisioning network services such as DNS, DHCP, NFS, LDAP, RADIUS or SMTP * Ability and knowledge to inform and drive vision for virtualization and XaaS software products such Docker, OpenStack, RHEV, or VMware * Experience with monitoring systems like Nagios, Zabbix, Zenoss, or something cool you wrote * InfoSec awareness and a healthy paranoia **SKILLS:** * Network device configuration: Arista, Cisco, F5 * Firewalls and Security appliances * Log mining: ElasticSearch, Kibana, Logstash, Splunk * RDBMS management
