Application Software Engineer

Pixar Animation Studios is an Academy Award ®-winning computer animation studio with the technical, creative and production capabilities to create a new generation of animated feature films, merchandise and other related products. Pixar’s Studio Tools team is responsible for developing Presto, our in-house proprietary animation software. We're looking for a software engineer who is committed to creating and maintaining world-class production tools. If you're someone with a deep understanding of software application engineering, an ability to collaborate with large cross-functional teams, and are skilled in designing and implementing robust, easy to maintain code, this may be the role for you.

• Partner with artists and technicians to provide world class software development and support for film production
• Develop, implement, test and support 3D graphics software in a Linux environment
• Collaborate effectively with a team of engineers, QA, Build, UI and Project Management

• 5+ years of professional engineering in C++ required. Production experience highly desired
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent
• Strong software engineering skills are a must
• Strong problem solving skills with high attention to detail and quality
• Experience with UNIX / Linux
• Experience using modern UI frameworks, such as Qt
• Experience with 3D applications (e.g., Maya, Houdini, Katana)
• Experience working with technical and non-technical software users
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Knowledge of modern rendering architectures, OpenGL and GPU technologies is a strong plus
