Responsibilities
  • Review monthly financials and supporting documents for portfolio of 15-25 properties. Areas of review would include: bank reconciliations, accounts receivable, straight-line rent, fixed assets, deferred assets, depreciation and amortization, accrued liabilities, other account reconciliations.
  • Review property level financial information included in the annual budgets, forecasts and operating expense recovery reimbursements.
  • Real Estate Accounting team support such as maintaining fixed asset system and coordinating corporate allocations to properties.
  • Prepare portfolio analysis for management reporting and audit support, property level debt compliance, investment level entity accounting or joint venture reporting if applicable.
  • Provide back-up and support to Property Accounting team including general ledger responsibilities within MRI, closing the books on a monthly basis, lease accounting guidance or quarterly operating expense recovery calculations.
  • Hire, train and supervise property accountant(s) including preparing performance evaluations and managing PTO requests.
  • Other duties as assigned from time to time to assist the Real Estate Accounting Group.
Ideal Candidate
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting degree or equivalent experience
  • A minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience, GAAP and real estate accounting preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, experience with MRI and Nexus a plus
  • Detail-oriented with strong organization and analytical skills
  • Strong in both written and verbal communication
  • Ability to work independently and in teams to meet deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude
  • Travel is minimal (less than 5%)
