(New York, New York)SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the COO and partnering with the VP of Member Services and Sr. VP of Public Policy, the Director will be responsible for successfully implementing Philanthropy New York’s program strategy for learning and community building. The incumbent is responsible for the following activities, among others:

Engage and partner with colleagues to create an annual program strategy for learning and community building, including setting key goals and building out new programs and program series aligned with our Strategic Plan.

Lead the implementation of the program strategy.

Engaging members and individuals with the professional/subject expertise to serve as speakers, presenters, and facilitators.
- Maintaining Philanthropy New York’s commitment to diversity in our programming;
- Strategizing and integrating new technology formats and delivery methods, including webinars, live streaming and social media, into Philanthropy New York’s professional education.
- Actively overseeing the marketing and publicity of programs and generating new ideas for improving outreach to ensure that members are aware of and accessing our learning and development opportunities.
- Develop relationships with members, affinity organizations, and other groups to ensure relevant, robust, and diverse programming to meet both staff development needs of our members as well as issue-specific content that elevates grant making strategy.
- Collaborate with PNY staff to determine priorities for assessing educational programs and PNY networks, including defining data collection dimensions to be used for tracking, undertaking an assessment of programs to develop a baseline and developing guidelines for program learning outcomes.
- Serve as a ready resource for and partner to Philanthropy New York colleagues on all aspects of programs and events that are generated within their respective areas of activity (for example, public policy programs);
- Collaborating closely with colleagues in Member Services and Policy, provide leadership to Philanthropy New York’s role-based peer networks and issue-based working groups
- Represent Philanthropy New York at meetings, conferences, as appropriate and valuable.
- Participate as needed in the supervision and/or conduct of grant projects;
- Supervise and help to develop the talents of the Learning Services Manager. Supervise consultants and interns, as needed.
SKILLS AND EXPERTISE
- Demonstrated skill in coordinating the complex details required to produce content-rich meetings.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. The ability to work with diverse constituencies, maintain diplomacy, and negotiate successfully is critical. An active listener who can synthesize information and facilitate conversations to achieve consensus will be successful in this role.
- Excellent project management expertise. The ability to develop timelines, manage multiple stakeholders, and execute on time is critical.
- Ability to creatively and effectively integrate technology into program content and into program advertising and evaluation.
- Experience in successfully and sensitively facilitating complicated relationships with high-profile individuals and organizations.
- Experience with evaluation, especially the evaluation of learning outcomes.
- Demonstrated commitment to working collaboratively with colleagues.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- At least 5+ years of related professional experience with increasing leadership responsibility and supervision of colleagues.
- Experience in generating new ideas for and planning programmatic content, developing curriculum to achieve learning outcomes, and working with presenters/facilitators
- Experience planning, organizing and executing professional events
- Experience creating targeted outreach and marketing strategies to engage program attendees and ensure good turn-out
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
- A four-year bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree in a related field (Education, Social Work, Public Policy or Public Administration) a plus. Experience working with databases and Drupal website platforms a plus.
