Summary
The Neurovascular Biology Lab within the Pfizer Neuroscience Research unit located in Cambridge, MA is working to identify and validate novel vascular-based targets and improve neurovascular function for the treatment of CNS diseases and injury.
Responsibilities
* Identify and validate new targets and mechanisms to improve neurovascular functioning * Design and support in vivo mechanistic studies evaluating blood-brain barrier integrity and trafficking of immune cells into the CNS. * Advance technical capabilities to measure cerebral blood flow and neurovascular coupling * Contribute to exploratory and portfolio projects focused on understanding how neurovascular pathology contributes to changes in neuronal circuit function in the context of CNS disease. * Be a part of an interdisciplinary team of scientists in the Neuroscience and Pain Research Unit. * Publish high-impact, cutting edge research in top tier scientific journals. **Target Identification & Validation:** * Designs and implements experiments to achieve a deep mechanistic understanding of target biology. * Collaborate with key internal and external biomedical scientists to drive improved understanding of disease pathophysiology and target biology to deliver a highly competitive and innovative early-stage drug discovery portfolio. * Foster collaborative and productive interactions between Pfizer colleagues and academic biomedical researchers. **Deliver the Neuroscience Research Unit Portfolio:** * Deliver high-value data and validated targets into the portfolio, and progress projects through the Neuroscience pipeline. **Communication:** * Foster a culture of open collaboration, communication and transparency. * Mentor lab members to develop experimental and critical thinking skills. * Clearly communicate and articulate the vision and strategy to colleagues in the NRSU. * Regularly report on project progress to Lab Head, Department Head, members of the Neuroscience Research Unit leadership team, and to other partners and stakeholders across the organization.
Ideal Candidate
* Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. * Record of high quality scientific research and publications in top tier journals. * 2+ years of postdoctoral research or industry experience preferred. * Deep insight and knowledge of neurovascular and blood brain barrier biology and CNS pathology. * Established track record of innovation and successful interdisciplinary interactions. * Demonstrated ability to implement emerging technologies and approaches.
