Staff Accountant

To assist with the month-end closing process through analyses of more complex accounts than handled by a Staff Accountant Level I. During the month-end process, perform analyses of actual spending versus budget to determine if reclassifications are required and explain variances. Perform monthly analyses on various balance sheet and expense accounts and prepare necessary journal entries.

Supervisory Responsibility: None

Work Environment:

• The majority of job duties are conducted while seated indoors at a computer terminal, with little or no exposure to hazards.

Education:

The minimum educational background of an applicant to this position is a 4-year college degree in Accounting or the equivalent combination of education and experience such as a high school diploma and 3 years general accounting experience is required.

Experience:

• Minimum 3 years of general accounting experience including at least 2 years as a Junior or Staff level Accountant required.
• Must be accurate, detail oriented and proficient with PC based systems.
• Intermediate to advanced level Excel skills and 10-key by touch are required.
• Previous experience working with PeopleSoft financial software is preferred.
• Good interpersonal communications skills are necessary due to the nature and level of interaction with other department personnel as well as senior management.
