Summary
Are you interested in working on a project that for more than 20 years, has supported the Department of Energy (DOE) at the Savannah River Site in South Carolina? This includes developing a conceptual design for a Salt Waste Processing Facility (SWPF) to process highly radioactive liquid wastes currently stored in large underground tanks. Salt wastes account for about 34 of the 37 million gallons of radioactive waste at Savannah River. If you have the necessary experience, and qualifications, please apply!
Responsibilities
Performing evaluation of existing ES&H programs and processes to institute improvements where required, and to ensure existing programs and processes are adhered to in performance of project work. Provide mentoring of personnel assigned to the ES&H department to ensure a highly skilled and productive team which ensures all attributes of ES&H programs are instituted across the project. Plans and performs field evaluations and assessments of work processes and environmental conditions to ascertain effectiveness across the project. Recommends corrective actions and oversees corrective action implementation. Acts as a Readiness Assistance Team member in ensuring all programs and processes are appropriately implemented to support transition of the project facilities from a construction environment to an operating facility. Prepares reports for senior management from assessment activities including the formulation of corrective actions where required. Coordinates with other project managers to remedy issues through effective problem solving and leadership techniques. Supports the project as required in completion of testing and commissioning of the facility through observation and mentoring of testing and operations personnel in application of system and component testing processes. Provides support of the Quality organization when assigned to assist with peak workloads, and provide experience and leadership as required. Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

Qualifications 4-year degree in Engineering, or closely related field and at least 20 years of experience in working in a nuclear industrial and construction environment managing safety, environmental, health and quality aspects of job performance. The successful candidate will have proven and demonstrable experience in management of the critical aspects listed above and will be expected to provide leadership to the workforce in transitioning from a construction environment to a commissioning and operations environment. Naval Nuclear Background a plus. The successful candidate should have proficient skills in the use of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Power Point, and Adobe Acrobat products. Performance for this position will require application of learned knowledge in daily aspects of program and personnel management. This includes technical troubleshooting capability, nuclear testing capability, nuclear quality assurance application and oversight, environmental conditions monitoring, safety prioritization, and mentoring of personnel Fluent written and oral skills are a must and will be continuously demonstrated through the requirements of job performance.
