Summary
Parsons Corporation is looking to hire a Vehicle Project Engineer in Houston, TX who will be responsible for basic vehicle engineering oversight duties and shop coverage of the (2) LRV procurements of LRV currently in final acceptance and field modifications. Tasks include on-going activity for the (2) Houston vehicle procurements projects with majority of time consumed on the H3 contract however winding down contractual warranty coverage for the H2 contract which includes (meetings/open items/modifications and the occasional correspondence). Responsibilities
**Project Office responsibilities include:** * Carbuilder submittals /correspondence- review and generate official recommendations /responses * Participate in Bi-Weekly Project Meeting * Update Share Point where applicable * Tracking of functionality open items until closure * Track Safety Certification remaining issues (4) **QA oversight responsibilities include:** * Monitoring, Car Configuration/CHBs updates, Modifications and Campaigns, Vendor FMIs, Operator issues – ride LRV trains with the Ops supervisor to get direct feedback * Quarterly QA Report – generate quarterly * QA project reports monthly * Perform QA Audits on CAF’s onsite operation and submit reports. Follow-up until closure. **Engineering:** * Validate carbuilders ECPs and process documentation. * Monitor CDRL closeout **Warranty/Reliability:** * Monitor the METRO’s daily TTC reports for trends, new and old issues. * Lead warranty/reliability meetings alternating subject each week. * Gather intelligence from each shop to provide status of vehicles and new issues to meeting. * Work with METRO Stores to ensure parts are to the latest configuration and are being delivered. * Support Rail Operations/Maintenance to clean up and add changes to the manuals before final release. Write letters to CAF. * Investigate issues that come up and determine with Rail Ops/Maintenance if changes need to be made. Escalated with a project letter if necessary. * Tracking of Fleet Defects and warranty open items to closure. * Signing of official paperwork to be placed in the CHBs (i.e. CT Stub Axle changes, final acceptance, etc.). * Submit weekly Vehicle Reports, * Provide support to METRO on FTA audits. * Work with CAF Warranty to close out issues and support with recommendations as required. Make them aware of METRO’s position and offer suggestions. * Support METRO as required for any other fleet concerns.
Ideal Candidate
**Preferred Education/Experience:** * 4-year degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or related field) * 10 plus years rail car/rolling stock engineering experience is required. * Professional registration may also be required. **Skills/Competencies:** * Potential to perform in a lead capacity, excellent written and oral communications skills, and a familiarity of industry practices and regulations are required. * Must also possess a thorough knowledge of current technology * Proficiency with SharePoint, MS Word and Excel and related programs is required. * Ability to select and apply appropriate engineering software for use on projects.
