Software Test Engineer

A Woman-Owned, Minority-Owned (Hawaiian), Veteran-Owned, Small Business, P3I provides comprehensive, cost-effective, and integrated services to the federal government, civilian agencies and departments, and the commercial business sector.

The customer develops, builds, and operates prototype space and airborne lasercom terminals. The technology developed and the lessons learned from these activities are transferred to operational programs through participation in standards groups and through the operation of a gold-standard test infrastructure. Major efforts include demonstration of a low-cost, high-performance airborne lasercom terminal, design of lasercom interoperability standards, development of a test capability to validate interoperability among various contractor-produced terminals, and investigation into techniques to enable multiple simultaneous lasercom links through a single aperture. This customer has close interactions with both government and industrial partners.

The candidate will be required to contribute to integration and testing of a software-based system, which includes remote device control and monitoring using digital commands and telemetry. Responsibilities involve working closely with a small SW development team to develop test procedures, software and infrastructure based on high-level specifications as well as support system integration and testing and integrating the software, while maintaining configuration control throughout the design and test cycle.

**Required Experience, Skills and Qualifications** * MS in Electrical or Computer Engineering or Computer Science with 8 or more years of directly-related experience will be considered. * Candidate must be able to design and implement automated tests of software via test scripts. * Previous experience should include working multi-machine, networked, software/hardware system environment. * Candidate should be fluent in C and C++ and will need to have experience testing custom C++ code that interacts with COTS software. * Candidate should have experience in Python scripting. * Successful applicant will have the communication and technical skills required to interact with the team, aiding with the timely resolution of software issues as they occur. **Desired Experience, Skills and Qualifications** * Experience with COTS Command/Telemetry software such as ITOS. * Experience with both Windows and Linux. * Experience with Atlasian software management & testing tools. * Proficiency in scripted execution. * Strong background in automated testing of software-based systems in a virtualized environment.
