R&D Data Scientist will be responsible for modeling complex problems, discovering insights and identifying opportunities through the use of statistical, algorithmic, mining and visualization techniques. In addition to advanced analytic skills, this role will also be proficient at integrating and preparing large, varied datasets, architecting specialized database and computing environments, and communicating results. Data Scientist will work closely with product management and development as well as IT teams to turn data into critical information and knowledge that can be used to make sound organizational decisions. The Data scientist will be a creative thinker and propose innovative ways to look at problems by using data mining (the process of discovering new patterns from large datasets) approaches on the set of information available. They will need to validate their findings using an experimental and iterative approach. Data Scientists will need to be able to present back their findings to the business by exposing their assumptions and validation work in a way that can be easily understood by their business counterparts.

- Apply sophisticated data science techniques to address a variety of marketing and product goals, and problems - Use predictive analytics and machine learning to solve complex problems and drive business decisions. Conduct advanced data analyses and design complex algorithms - Employ the appropriate algorithms to discover patterns - Design experiments, test hypotheses, and build actionable models - Solve analytical problems, and effectively communicate methodologies and results - Work with team members to trouble-shoot system or data challenges - Draw inferences and conclusions, and create dashboards and visualizations of processed data, identify trends, anomalies

**Education & Experience** - Master’s degree required in Computer Science, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Statistics, or related field; PhD preferred - 3+ years’ experience developing advanced analytics in a business or academic setting **Knowledge, Skills & Abilities** - Deep knowledge in statistics/machine-learning/data-mining - Some familiarity with SQL and relational databases - Strong familiarity with data mining processes - Experience with Hadoop, HANA, Spark, Hbase, or SAS - Experience with one of following (or related) coding languages: Python, JavaScript, C, C++, C#, PHP, Ruby, Rails - Experience in empirical methods on real world (i.e., noisy) data sets - Intermediate Python skills and familiarity with associated mathematics libraries - Excellent written and communications skills to report back the findings in a clear, structured manner are required **Physical Requirements** - Sedentary work involves remaining in a stationary position most of the time in front of a computer, using a keyboard, mouse and telephone. - Regularly operate a computer and other office equipment. - Occasionally move about the work site to access file cabinets, office equipment, etc. - Exert up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or regularly move objects. - Communicate and exchange information with co-workers and other individuals in person and electronically. - This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. - Employee may perform other related duties as assigned to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.
