Summary
Outbrain is seeking a highly motivated, self-reliant business intelligence specialist. For this position we are looking for a seasoned, enthusiastic data mining professional with the ability to self-learn and deliver results; a professional with a strong ability to communicate with both the technical and business sides of the organization.
Responsibilities
* Identify patterns and anomalies in the data to lead business decisions * Provide data-driven insights to help shape product, business and marketing direction * Automate processes of large scale data extraction, analysis and visualization in Python or similar scripting language to increase productivity * Develop internal services for tracking global content consumption trends, monitoring competitive landscape and identifying new business and upsell opportunities
Ideal Candidate
* 3+ years of relevant industry experience * BS in quantitative field (e.g., Engineering, Math, Finance); advanced degree preferred * Experience building data mining model to predict behaviors and trends (machine learning experience a plus) * Fluency in SQL and at least one scripting language (Python preferred) * Experience working with large, complex datasets with minimal support * Experience translating business needs to analytical and technical requirements * Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to present complex methodologies and findings to non-technical audiences * Experience with Hadoop, Hive or other Big Data technologies a plus * Knowledge of Vertica and Tableau a plus * Leadership or managerial experience a plus * Comfort with front-end development technologies (HTML/CSS/JS) a plus
