Director, Engineering, Platform Delivery and Infrastructure

OpenMarket provides services to some of the largest and best known brands in the world, and they rely on our platform and global network for critical aspects of their businesses. We deliver this platform through a Services-Oriented Architecture (SOA) model with service teams having high degrees of autonomy to maintain high levels of efficiency/low overhead, but they are also part of one overarching platform – this is the glue Platform Delivery and Infrastructure provides. Platform Delivery provides tooling, libraries, run-time services, and infrastructure required to build, run, and operate software at OpenMarket. It is comprised of Development, Operations, Security, and IT personnel whose charter is to empower the entire Development organization and help optimize their efforts to build high quality software in a consistent fashion across the global platform that meets the needs of major enterprises. Examples of this organizations offerings include: software development tools (SCM, build management), platform run-time infrastructure services (global authentication and single sign-on, queuing-as-a-service, configuration-as-a-service, self-service monitoring, logging services), application hosting services (libraries to abstract and access infrastructure services, VMs/containers), and the data centers and infrastructure they run on. As Director, Platform Delivery and Infrastructure, you will be responsible for delivering software capabilities and the underlying infrastructure to drive the effectiveness of development and operations at OpenMarket, jointly developing the shared strategy for engineering and operational functions, delivering against that strategy, and creating standards and tooling to facilitate a “one-global-platform” concept. This role peers with the Directors of Engineering, Information Security, and Support to ensure broad influence across OpenMarket’s entire delivery organization.

* Demonstrated successful management of a 24x7, mission-critical Operations department, preferably OLTP-focused. * Experience in virtualized environments (VMs, containerization). * Demonstrated leadership of a SW engineering/development organization inclusive of production operational responsibilities. * Ability to effectively manage remote teams and maintain high performance across all locations. * Experience in service-oriented architectures and how to create an operating environment facilitating SOA. * Ability to design and implement new business processes successfully (change management). * Experience delivering against security and data privacy standards (e.g., ISO 27001, Safe Harbor). * Willingness to travel – travel is not frequent, but periodic visits to other offices is expected.
