Summary

OpenTable is seeking a Lead Experience Designer to help take the restaurant product experience to the next level. We’re looking for designers who can see beyond what OpenTable is today and can execute on a vision for what it could become. You’ll be concepting, designing and shipping applications and services that restaurants use to manage their business. This role will be looking at the onboarding service experience for restaurant to make an efficient and elegant sign-up flow for our restaurant customers.

Responsibilities

- Service Design: You are passionate about creating seamless experiences for people and able to work with multiple stakeholders and partners to make it happen. You want to make the complex simple.
- Human-centered: Your designs respond to the needs and motivations of real people. You understand human centered design philosophy and are comfortable going out into the world for inspiration.
- Interface designer, not graphic designer: You can take a sketch or wireframe and transform them into beautiful, pixel-perfect interfaces that would make Apple envious.
- Communication skills: You communicate visually and can express your ideas with skill and grace whether standing at a whiteboard, drawing on a napkin, or presenting on screen. You see visual design as a language and can explain what your design decisions are meant to communicate.
- Collaboration: You demonstrate a strong, collaborative ethos and have the ability to inspire and facilitate collaboration with others.
- Systems Thinker: You can translate a personality or “feeling” into a cohesive visual system that can be applied across all channels: Web, mobile, print, video and even animation.

Ideal Candidate

You have an exceptional portfolio featuring examples of product design work and service design work with a link to your personal website or web portfolio.
At least 6 years of experience in a related position, proven experience designing for the mobile and web experiences.
The ability to think about high-level product vision, you understand constraints and you contribute to a fantastic design experience.
Proficiency in designing cross platform experiences - mobile, web, tablet etc.
Expertise in Adobe CS and prototyping tools.
Storyboarding skills, the ability to tell the story of a design from end to end.
A healthy sense of humor
