Full Stack Engineering Manager

It is not often that Oblong has an opening for engineering leaders but we have an opportunity now that we are excited to share. We are looking for a true hacker-leader, a Full Stack Engineering Manager, to take the reigns of the team that just built Mezz-In. This team is the linchpin around which many of our most strategic efforts revolve and the leader of this team will enjoy a very large sphere of influence at Oblong. The candidate of our dreams has some key characteristics: a track record of pushing the envelope, of shipping world class products as an engineer and a leader, of simultaneously holding in their mind the big picture as well as the details, and caring deeply about the development and happiness of their colleagues. * Be a fantastic coach for a highly motivated engineering team * Help the team articulate and drive a shared technical vision that will guide our cloud engineering efforts * Provide strong technical leadership: evangelize engineering best practices, develop and maintain an intimate technical understanding of the areas under your supervision, and be ultimately responsible for the quality of the work produced by your team * Hands on involvement: Spend a significant portion of your time in active development

* 5+ years of experience delivering software products at world class organizations * Strong competency in cloud-first architecture and deployment best-practices * Knowledge of the whole web stack, how all the pieces fit together (front-end, api layer, database, network, compute, etc.) and how they impact application performance * Experience leading and growing teams of 5 or more people * Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, continuous deployment, and real time video streaming will count as a plus, though not required * Excellent interpersonal skills * Good written and verbal communication skills
