Oakley is looking for a Product Development Engineer that is ready to tinker and tackle pie in the sky designs. Responsibilities
- Responsible for the mechanical/technical development of new eyewear models including mechanical engineering, material selection, tool and process design, technical drawings, and PLM. - Multiple project schedule coordination and tracking within a fast paced product development environment. - Lead cross functional team through new product introduction process from sketch to mass production. - Communicate project status to department manager and applicable departments. - Initiate continuous improvement and cost reduction programs. - Provide innovative solutions to overall industry challenges resulting in occasional patent grants. - Limited travel to international factories.
Ideal Candidate
**The Qualifiers** - Excellent communication skills with ability to interface effectively with coworkers ranging from senior vice presidents to product assembly teams. - Well versed in Injection-molded component design and processing. - Understanding of metal component manufacturing techniques. - Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles, Kaizen, sigma science, JIT, Set-up Reduction, etc - Proficient in at least one CAD software package (Solidworks/ProE/Rhino/Alias) - Proficient in 2D drafting ANSI/ASME standards, best practices, dimensioning & tolerancing, GD&T. - Proficient in MS Excel, MS Word, MS project. - B.S. in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering - Made in the USA manufacturing experience. **Stoked if you have this too** - Previous project management experience. - Hands on experience with metal fabrication or machine shop experience - Eyewear or action sports retail sales experience - Bilingual: English + Spanish/Mandarin/Italian - Passion for life outside of work - mountain biking, motocross, surfing, musician, photography, kickstarter, etc.
