Summary
Candidate will be responsible for the execution of product design either individually or by leading a combination of internal contributors, outside suppliers, Product Design Engineers.
Responsibilities
* Play leading role in mechanical architecture definition and product development * Prepare innovative early design concepts and product architecture working with fast paced consumer product marketing driven cycles * Candidate will be responsible for all aspects of mechanical systems development, i.e. Structures, Displays, Acoustic, Battery, Antenna and Thermal Systems, etc. * Research bleeding edge technologies, materials and processes * Work with Industrial Design to create cutting edge designs
Ideal Candidate
* BSME minimum and 8+ years relevant experience in product and mechanical design * Experience in hand-held consumer electronics designs * Experience in Design for Manufacturability (DFM), and Design for Assembly (DFA), statistical tolerance analysis techniques, CTF dimensioning, and geometric tolerancing. * Excellent 3D CAD experience, i.e. ProE, Solidworks, Unigraphics * Strong analytical/problem solving skills and ability to use statistical tools and techniques. * Working knowledge of finite element analysis theory and mechanical engineering analysis. * Flexibility and comfort working in a quickly changing environment. * Experience in high volume manufacturing with casting, plastics, sheet metal, etc. * Superior communication skills * Experience in managing outside resources including consultants, component suppliers, and high volume manufacturing partners. * Experience working with overseas and domestic manufacturers. * Experience with processes to realize Industrial Design requirement including materials, high level finishes etc. * Experience in, Human Factors and Quality is a plus
