Summary
Position is responsible for various risk control activities in the Retail Risk Group, supporting NRG’s Retail businesses. It requires a combined expertise in the financial aspects needed to understand risk measurement of financial instruments, plus knowledge of the systems used to measure the risk of a complex portfolio.
Responsibilities
* Make recommendations for system/process enhancements to improve performance in the Risk Control area and test system changes * Communicate & maintain project timelines for Retail Risk Group * Provide project management support for all of retail’s risk related projects * Take direction from other Risk Directors or Managers to ensure their projects are delivered to completion * Monitor adherence to the retail Risk Policy and Operational Controls, assist in investigation of any issues, and update any policies to accommodate changes in products, services, and market conditions * Interface with other internal departments in the resolution of retail business issues as required * Collaborate effectively with other Retail Risk teams, Retail Supply, Legal, IT, and Retail Operations teams to evaluate non-standard requests in a timely manner * Participate in the development/updating of procedures and guidelines to ensure the quality and integrity of Risk management policy and Operational Controls * Collaborate effectively with other Risk teams and relevant NRG teams on ad hoc projects
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor’s degree required. Business, economics, finance, or engineering preferred * Project management experience is required * Ability to work well with others, sharing workloads * Understanding of compliance and basic auditing * Strong work ethic – team player willing to fill any roles or gap to achieve an outcome * 5 years of energy industry experience * High degree of computer literacy. Intermediate knowledge of PowerPoint and Excel is preferred. * Working knowledge of financial and physical energy trading markets, particularly electricity markets is required. Experience in ERCOT and PJM Markets is preferred. * Attention to detail, critical thinking and organizational skills * Adapts effectively to new and changing environments * Proficient in effectively communicating to a wide range of audiences in both written and oral form * Excels in quickly conceptualizing and assimilating data to make decisions and take appropriate action * Works independently through the use of initiative and self-motivation
