Responsibilities
**Maintenance Engineer Duties** * Review and become familiar with the HCEC Plant and its Equipment. * Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on HCEC equipment as directed by the Lead Engineer or Operations Manager. * Fill in on operating shifts as required at HCEC as directed by the Lead Engineer. * Observe and comply with all safety requirements. * Complete necessary maintenance documentation and plant paperwork as required. * Perform other duties as assigned by the Lead Engineer or MEC Operations Manager, i.e. facility cleaning, customer meter reading, plant maintenance, etc. **Operating Engineer Duties (Working Rotating Shifts)** * Review and become familiar with the HCEC Plant. * Safely and efficiently operate HCEC boilers, chillers and auxiliary equipment. Place in service the plant primary equipment as well as auxiliary equipment for proper operation of the plant during all load conditions. Observe and comply with all safety requirements and take the necessary steps to protect equipment and personnel from harm in the event of an emergency situation. * HCEC control room operators must divide work load and share duties in a way that makes for efficient plant operation as defined by the Operations Supervisor. * See that all work stations are maintained in good order, that necessary logs and records are kept and that charts are changed as required by Plant Management. * Complete necessary documentation and plant paperwork as required. * Complete minor maintenance and service duties during shift operation under the direction of the Operations Supervisor or Maintenance Supervisor so long as it does not interfere with the safe operation of the plant. * Perform other duties as assigned by Director of Operations, Operations Supervisor or the Maintenance Supervisor (i.e., facility cleaning, customer meter reading, etc.
Ideal Candidate
* Must have or must obtain within two years a State of Minnesota First Class “A Operating Engineer’s License. * High School diploma or equivalent. * Education (Military, vocational, other) in steam and chilled water plant operation. * At least two years of experience * Knowledgeable and experienced in working with steam and chilled water equipment, steam turbines, water pumps and utilizing a variety or refrigerants. * Ability to work rotating shifts * Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. * Ability to work in adverse climate conditions * Successful candidates will be required to receive a rating of Recommended on the NRG Pre-employment assessment test
