Summary
This position is responsible for producing and editing all drawings for the Operations Center in New Roads. The Drafter position works independently and with a high degree of accuracy.
Responsibilities
* Originate functional designs and produce drawings based on system descriptions, rough drafts, layouts, sketches, calculations, and other design information. * Develop and detail elements such as electrical equipment arrangements, equipment selection, duct and conduit arrangements and details, grounding plans and details, cable sizing and routing, and other related tasks. * Perform required calculations for items such as cable sizing, conduit and duct bank sizing, cable tray loading, equipment clearance and material quantities. * Visit field sites to investigate and solve problem areas such as equipment clearances and to inspect the work being done by the contractors. * Plan and schedule work to meet established deadlines. * Update and maintain drawing files. **Secondary Responsibilities:** * Review and maintain meter point location maps. * Review, maintain, and issue updates to the meter point one line diagrams. * Filing completed job files and update same as required.
Ideal Candidate
* A high school diploma or an equivalent with an additional one (1) year of vocational-technical school training. Vocational training may be waived with sufficient related experience. Must be knowledgeable in AutoCAD. * Minimum of one (1) years experience with an electric utility or similar industry. **Desired:** - Must be able to lay out a complete substation from verbal instructions. - Able to interpret applicable design specifications. Familiar with various materials and the use of vendor catalogs. - Able to prepare detailed engineering drawings and take-off of project designs. - Will do a considerable amount of layout based on standards and provides special layouts in consultation with an engineer. - Needs to have a solid working knowledge of utility operation. - Must be familiar with personal computers and able to utilize AutoCAD, spreadsheets, graphic, and word processing software. - A working knowledge of VP MAX STUDIO and/or Auto Manager WorkFlow is a plus

Travel: Travel is sometimes required. Approximately twenty percent travel may be occasionally required.
