Summary
Northwestern Mutual is seeking an individual to provide technical consultation to the department and asset support for the Security and Identity Management domains. As an Architect within Information Systems, you will collaborate with other architecture disciplines (Technical, Application, Solution, Information, Business Domain) to deliver strategy/technical expertise within a single architecture discipline to project and support teams, communicating and implementing solutions consistent with applied and strategic architecture processes.
Responsibilities
* Develop feasible, comprehensive solutions that balance tradeoffs of scope, schedule and cost with established Architecture direction, principles and best practices * Resolve escalated higher level exceptions * Proactively monitor a single business or technical domain in order to mentor and coach project teams, and to identify potential impact and opportunities * Leverage Technical Architecture best practices and methodologies to ensure resulting architectures promote business growth, optimize technology investment, and proactively prepare for business and technology change.
Ideal Candidate
- Bachelor's degree in MIS, Computer Science or related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience - Understanding of security and security controls as they relate to ensuring confidentiality, integrity, and availability - Technical knowledge should include various authentication methods (e.g. Kerberos, NTLM, claims-based, PKI), Siteminder, Active Directory and other CA tools - Detailed oriented, possess strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal, problem solving, negotiation, and conflict management skills - Eight or more years of experience in information technology, preferably in support of multiple infrastructure architectures (e.g. network, server, desktop, security) - Eight or more years of diverse experience in information technology across multiple systems and technologies (e.g. architecture, integration, component or object oriented design, infrastructure design or management) including leading design for large projects - Experience leading the design, prototypes, support processes, and/or maintenance of relevant technical infrastructure Experience authoring & publishing quality technical documentation - Prefer team leadership experience including guidance and training of more junior architect staff - Experience developing or working with architectural concepts, strategies, roadmaps, reference architectures, architectural patterns, frameworks, principles, recommended practices (Information Architect) - Proficiency in analysis and decision making involving complex, ambiguous business and technology situations - Ability to understand the broader implications of business and technology strategy across the company, while concurrently visualizing the project-level impacts
