Software Engineer

The Threat Modeling Center is responsible for the development and delivery of high fidelity threat modeling products in support of MDA and MDA’s Ballistic Missile Defense System. This position requires an experienced software development engineer with experience in all areas of the software engineering life cycle. Primary responsibilities include leading a small technical team responsible for: designing, developing, maintaining, modifying, and testing code used to support and the modeling and simulation of ballistic missile and aircraft models to support MDA Ballistic Missile Defense System events. Additional responsibilities include development and delivery of management and customer briefings (including formal review milestones); metrics collection and analysis; process adherence and enforcement. The Software Engineer will be responsible for daily tasking and oversight for a small product team. Responsibilities of the product team include all facets of the software design, development, and implementation life cycle for software and database changes identified by program personnel. This includes analysis of change requests and requirements for new software support capabilities; design of software, COTS/GOTS integration, and procedures to meet and mitigate requirements; implementation of software and database applications, and other programming tools; and integration, documentation, and testing of software development artifacts. Resolve technically challenging issues and proactively evolve system and software requirements.

**Basic Qualifications:** * Bachelors Degree Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or Math with 15 years of experience OR Masters degree with 10 years experience. * Experience with software development using C++ and JAVA on UNIX, LINUX, and Windows platforms. * Ability to create and follow standard processes and clearly document results. * Ability to identify and achieve multiple milestones spread across various calendars and schedules. * Self-motivated and able to provide solutions to highly technical problems. * Ability to interface effectively with users, customers, management, and other engineering personnel. Possess strong verbal and written communications skills. * Position requires an active DoD Secret clearance. **Preferred Qualifications:** * Master’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or Math plus 10 years of years of recent active development experience. * Modeling, Simulation, and automation experience. * Strong math, physics or engineering background. Knowledge of the flight characteristics, motion, atmospheric dynamics, and missile performance parameters necessary to model ballistic missiles. * Software troubleshooting and code optimization. * Experience with automated unit testing. * Experience leading and providing tasking to teams with diverse skill sets. * Experience with mentoring and training employees. * Proven teamwork and interpersonal skills. * Ability to efficiently and independently multi-task in an extremely demanding and deadline-driven environment. * DoD Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
