Junior Designer

New York City Ballet is one of the foremost dance companies in the world, with a roster of spectacular dancers and an unparalleled repertory.

New York City Ballet seeks a junior graphic designer to join a growing Creative Services team, within a fast-paced Marketing & Media department, in the execution of effective institutional and seasonal communications.

• Assist in the execution of various print and web design projects including but not limited to publications, collateral/brochures, posters, signage, logos, print/outdoor/digital advertising, email, merchandise, and environmental
• Work creatively within the NYCB brand guidelines to create effective communications at the highest quality and in a timely manner
• Provide standard and out-of-the-box approaches to various ongoing creative challenges
• Work with ideas that can build across channels in various mediums
• Create assets for multiple social media platforms Uphold the integrity of, and help build and promote the NYCB brand
• Maintain an awareness of workflow and deadlines
• Keep abreast of latest design trends
• Archive printed and digital materials for rapid location and retrieval
• Assist with other departmental activities as needed

• Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 1+ years of design experience
• Knowledge of graphic design principals including digital design & communications
• Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite After Effects, HTML5, and web knowledge a plus
• Ability to work quickly when needed, problem solve and deliver within a nimble, deadline driven environment
• Exceptional attention to detail, with strong communication, organizational, project management, and multi-tasking skills
• Knowledge of file preparation
• Retouching and photographic skills a plus
• Reliable and self-motivated, while working collaboratively as part of a team
• Willingness to work occasional nights and weekends for pre- and post-performance activities
• An affinity/passion/interest in performing arts/art/culture a must, ballet and/or in NYCB a plus
