The SRE team at New Relic consists of engineers who work directly within New Relic's development teams providing operationally focused thinking and development within our products. If you love building highly available products and sharing your experience with others, you will enjoy helping us take our platform to the next level of excellence. Our engineers are particularly smart, creative, hard-working, and capable collaborators. They need leadership, not supervision. Management at NR leads by example. Managers here help engineers ship great features and tools by providing resources, eliminating blockers, and keeping folks informed. If you're a command-and-control person, this is not the right place for you. If you've been a lead software engineer or better a production operational expert yourself, and you love helping other engineers excel and manage projects working with engineers and business users, we might be the perfect place.

* Ensure your team has the right skills, processes, and support to deliver top-quality results * Manage the day-to-day for a highly talented group of engineers * Set priorities and act as project manager for the team’s initiatives * Facilitate communication with other engineering teams and stakeholders * Provide effective coaching, mentoring, and performance management * Curate technical decisions, relying on your own experience and the input of your team * Lead the hiring process for new team members

* Have 4+ years experience successfully leading a high-performing DevOps or software engineering team * Have deep experience with build pipelines and virtualization/containerization technologies * Thrive in a fast-paced, agile environment where business and process evolution is a constant * Are experienced collaborating with and influencing cross-functional teams * Bonus points for experience with: Docker, AWS, Jenkins, Puppet, Ruby, or Python
