Engineering Trainer

New Relic is a Software Analytics company that makes sense of billions of metrics across millions of apps. We help the people who build modern software understand the stories their data is trying to tell them.

* You will be responsible for both ensuring that new engineers learn what they need, just in time, and at the right level, and helping develop training for engineers who have been with us for years. For existing engineers, you will develop content to help them understand new projects and new teams, and also provide resources and workshops that will help them grow their careers and their knowledge. * We are looking for someone who has an unnatural knack for explaining just the right amount, an uncanny ability to learn technical topics extremely quickly, and a feverish desire to see that "Ah ha!" moment appear on people's faces. * As a part of the Engineering team, you will be working with all of the teams that build our outstanding products. You will be expected to learn about every team, a little about every code base, and to build relationships with most of the engineers. Your value will come from your ability to teach and build content even more effectively than the engineers you'll be working with. Some of your responsibilities: - Give training on topics needed by all engineering teams (product knowledge, company values, etc) - Help engineers create materials for team-specific topics, and then own and deliver these trainings - Work with managers to identify learning goals for new hires - Coordinate on-boarding schedules and activities for new hires - Create tools to ease the education process - Gather survey data/evaluation data to ensure that your programs remain effective and of high-quality - Occasionally travel to other offices to help train the engineering staff

- 5+ years experience in software engineering in an agile environment - Excellent spoken and written communication - Ability to learn very quickly and condense information into digestible form - Experience mentoring or teaching
