Responsibilities
* Review and analyze loss runs, motor vehicle reports, financial statements and insurance applications to determine acceptability of risks and appropriate pricing and policy structure * Prepare accurate and detailed worksheets, pricing models, financial and driver reviews on all new and renewal submissions to effectively review accounts with management to determine final account pricing * Monitor assigned accounts waiting to be quoted so that all quotes are released by the date requested * Obtain critical underwriting information (i.e., UM rejection, collateral agreement, letter of credit, etc.) within specified time standards or, in cases of noncompliance, send a notice of cancellation * Place facultative reinsurance when authorized and required * Complete a 90-day review analysis on all renewal business * Perform other duties and ad hoc projects as assigned
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor’s degree from a four year college or university is preferred OR a minimum of 5 years’ experience in the P/C industry with increasing responsibilities * Minimum of 2 years of P/C underwriting experience OR a minimum 1 year of commercial transportation underwriting experience * Exceptional written, verbal and interpersonal communication talent is essential * Ability to read and interpret documents such as insurance applications, contracts, state insurance manuals, ISO circulars and underwriting guidelines * Strong analytical and critical thinking skills * Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook
