Billing Specialist

As a Billing Specialist, you will primarily be responsible for the daily monitoring of accounts, collection of premiums due and for providing exemplary customer service to employees, agents, producers, and insureds.

• Execute all aspects of the billing and collections process, namely by collecting amounts due from both customer and agency accounts
• Initiate contact with account holders by way of mail, e-mail, and telephone
• Review daily reports to identify past due situations, suspense items, and discrepancies, and issue notices as appropriate
• Research billing problems and recommend solutions and communicate potential issues to agents, brokers, producers and internal staff
• Analyze accounts to support underwriting decisions and requests for nonstandard pay terms
• Review and approve pending batches for statement deduct credits
• Document and apply cash receipts for received funds using accounting software (PRISM)
• Perform other duties and ad hoc projects as assigned

• High school diploma/GED or equivalent work experience
• Two or more years of customer relations experience is preferred
• A minimum of 6 months’ experience in accounts receivable/payable also preferred
• Prior insurance industry experience is a plus
• Exceptional written, verbal and interpersonal communication talent is essential
• Ability to influence others through negotiating and collaborating on solutions
• Comfortable presenting information in one-on-one discussions or in a group setting
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook with an emphasis on spreadsheet and internet experience
