Responsibilities
Serve as a thought leader and owner in the development, implementation and dissemination of new and existing reporting projects related to medical utilization, cost, and risk adjustment for MVP. These activities will include development and implementation of clinical risk modeling programs, payment model design, and studies to support value-based payment initiatives, network transformation, medical trend analysis, return on investment (ROI) models and framework. This role will partner with a variety of people within MVP to drive and lead data analysis around key corporate initiatives for MVP's Actuarial, Finance, Network, and Health Services departments. Using SQL database management tools, the engineer will provide health care data analysis using various statistical methods to help measure and evaluate current and future health plan initiatives. After measurement and evaluation have been completed, the Lead Analyst will present observations and findings back to relevant stakeholders and make recommendations. This role is also responsible for mentoring, coaching and training team members to build overall team strength & knowledge. Perform other duties as assigned.
Ideal Candidate
**Minimum Education:** * Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred with either a quantitative (i.e. actuarial, statistics, economics, engineering, computer, science, applied math, etc) or a healthcare major (i.e. health administration, public health, medicine, etc.). **Minimum Experience:** * 1-2 years of experience working with healthcare data, preferably for a health plan, consulting firm, or a software vendor that offers data solutions to health plans. * Minimum 1 year of experience developing database driven projects using T-SQL. * Minimum 1 year of experience or education training in statistical stratification, sampling, and cohort driven data modeling and analysis. **Required Skills:** • Knowledge of health plan-specific datasets (i.e. claims, eligibility, etc.) reporting /analytic uses (i.e. cost and utilization reporting, disease management, etc) and terminology (i.e. PMPM, and per 1000 measures, diagnosis/procedure codes, episode groupers, risk adjustment, etc.) strongly preferred. • Demonstrated ability to identify the necessary data, prepare extracts, and analyze data to provide solutions required • Foundational understanding of relational database concepts and/or multi-dimensional models. • Highly experienced in Microsoft Excel, Word and proficient in other MS Office tools such as Powerpoint.. • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of personal computers, spreadsheet applications, SQL database tools. • SQL, SAS, Microsoft Excel/Access (advanced) or other programming language required • Experience with the FACETS system highly preferred • Ability to handle and manipulate large complex healthcare related datasets • Superior problem solving, analytic skills and an ability to analyze large volumes of data and identify trends and anomalies. • Ability to work independently, as well as work effectively as a member of a team. • Professionally skilled in personal presentation, verbal, and written communication. • Ability to prioritize multiple assignments with attention to details and deadlines in a high volume environment. • Proven ability to build relationships with business and technical partners to improve customer service and continuously improve project delivery • Must be self-motivated, proactive and able to work well under pressure
