Summary
Pharmacist are an important part of the integrated healthcare team at MultiCare. MultiCare use advanced technology including EHR, CPOE, bar code, smart pumps, automated medication dispensing cabinets and dispensing carousel.
Responsibilities
The Pharmacist Specialist is responsible for the provision and coordination of pharmaceutical care services usually in a specialized setting or role. The position will have focus on infectious disease and supporting antimicrobial stewardship, primarily at MultiCare Medical Center, but also Allenmore Hospital. In addition, this person will provide clinical and distributive services, team leadership, coordinate staff development and education, will be highly involved in directing, mentoring, and coaching staff, residents and students who provide pharmaceutical care services, particularly in the assigned specialty area. This person will lead and assist with performance improvement initiatives, guideline and protocol development, and quality assurance activities. This position requires interpretation of information relating to a wide variety of policies, practices, and subject areas within the area of specialty practice. Work situations are frequently non-routine requiring analysis, excellent problem-solving skills, and good judgment in decision-making. Effective communication skills and time management skills are essential. The position works closely with pharmacists, medical staff, nurses, infection control, and administrators.
Ideal Candidate
**Minimum Requirements:** Two years experience in hospital pharmacy practice or completion of ASHP accredited hospital pharmacy residency. Will have ID experience Advanced training in ID preferred. Will meet ASHP residency accreditation preceptor requirements. **Education/Licenses/Certifications:** Graduate of an accredited college or school of pharmacy. Licensed in the State of Washington Will have, or become as soon as eligible, Certified Pharmacist Preceptor by the Washington Department of Health.
