Summary
MuleSoft is looking for a Manager, FP&A to work closely with the Vice President of FP&A in building a scalable and dynamic FP&A infrastructure at MuleSoft. Working closely with the CFO, the FP&A Team at MuleSoft supports the company’s short-term forecasts and long-term financial plan and provides executive-level reporting to our Board of Directors, management team, and key functional heads. Our goal is twofold: 1) to provide accurate forecasts with strong forward visibility and 2) to ‘moneyball’ the business and provide actionable insights that inform better decisions and help us build one of the world’s great software companies.
Responsibilities
FP&A at MuleSoft is uniquely involved in a variety of key strategic initiatives. Some examples of non-traditional projects performed by FP&A in the past include: (a) providing analysis used in negotiating licensing contracts with other software vendors, (b) crafting the company’s messaging to investors, and (c) evaluating potential acquisition targets. **30 days:** * Gain an understanding of MuleSoft’s financial processes and priorities by digging into our financial models, financial planning tool (Anaplan), ERP (Netsuite), and other systems and data * Collaborate with colleagues and meet with key executives to understand how our planning process works and where we can evolve it to meet the needs of our rapidly growing company **60 days:** * Create a plan to leverage use of our financial planning tool (Anaplan) throughout the business to drive accurate forecasts and maximum visibility * Working with the VP of FP&A and CFO, coordinate the process for quarterly forecast updates and bottoms-up annual planning * Produce the roll-up of the income statement, cash flow, and balance sheet forecasts, while leveraging partnerships with business analytics, Sales Ops, and FP&A colleagues * Prepare monthly and/or quarterly reporting for Executive Staff Members and investors by analyzing key trends * Assess and flag current and future business risks and opportunities, and liaise with the accounting team and cross-functional business partners to ensure correct accounting treatment of transactional activities **90 days:** * Lead and support cross-organizational projects by working closely with process owners and leading data analysis efforts to identify gaps in processes/systems and implement scalable solutions to improve and automate them * Work on ad-hoc analyses as requested by the company’s Executive Staff members, and regularly streamline processes and workflows to help business leaders achieve company goals * Manage the company’s annual bottoms-up budget process
Ideal Candidate
* 6-10 years of relevant experience in FP&A, equity research, investment banking, and/or management consulting * A “do whatever it takes” attitude to affect change within the organization * An ability to balance being detail-oriented as well as seeing the big picture * An ability to work well with a variety of personalities towards a common goal * Intellectual curiosity to regularly challenge the status quo * Expert in Microsoft Excel, building complex financial models, and use of planning systems/tools required * Strong understanding of accounting concepts and processes required * Experience with enterprise software companies and SaaS business models is a plus * Experience with SQL, Anaplan, Tableau, Salesforce.com, NetSuite, Workday a plus
